I snapped a stud on my Tein flex Z

I got Tein flex Zs on my '23 GR86, and while chasing a high-speed shake, I snapped a front top mount stud. Is it risky to drive like this short-term? Can I replace just the stud, or do I need a whole new pillow ball mount?

Sounds risky to me. it compromises your suspension and steering. Definitely get it fixed ASAP. If the stud can't be replaced, then yeah, you'd likely need a whole new pillow ball mount.

As for the stud, if it's pressed in and replaceable, you could swap just that, but a lot of people end up replacing the whole mount just for peace of mind. I agree, it seems risky. I'll get it fixed ASAP, I hope I can just replace the stud, but if not, I'll look into a new pillow ball mount

Hey, I wouldn't reccommend driving it that way. Those studs are crucial for keeping the entire top of your strut secure, so losing one is pretty risky, especially if you're expereincing a shake at high speeds. You can swap out just the stud if the mount is still in good shape, but if the pillow ball is worn or the stud has damaged the seat, it's wiser to replace the whole mount. I'd suggest taking it apart and checking everything before putting yourself at risk

I once watched a buddy of mine lose a strut stud, and let me tell you, that was a mistake. He kept driving it like nothing was wrong, but it ended up wrecking the mount and pillow ball way too fast. In the end, he had to replace the entire setup. If you ever find yourself in a situation where a stud's gone AWOL, trust me, it's better to tear everything apart and take a good look at it before it turns into a costly mess.
