Upgrading wheels , need suggestions

I'm considering upgrading to a set of RPF1 wheels for my 2024 GR86, specifically looking at 18x9 +40. but but but I'm concerned whether they'll clear a big brake kit (BBK), as I haven't ordered either the wheels or the BBK yet. anyone here run this setup, or could offer advice on fitment?

From what I gathered, jumping straight to 18x9 +40 RPF1s with the intention of a future BBK is a smart move, but you're right to be cautious.

BBK clearance is notoriously tight. Some smaller BBKs can be cleared but it really depends on the specific design. f you're serious about a large BBK, consider looking into wheels with a more aggressive offset, perhaps closer to +35 or even +30, or be prepared for the possible need for spacers.

That size is pretty popular on the GR86, but BBK clearance depends a lot on the specific kit. RPF1s have tight barrel clearance, so some BBKs won't fit without spacers so maybe check with the brake manufacturer for a template before you commit.

I agree with some of the comments above to check the brake clearance specs for both the wheels and the kit you're considering and that some BBKs need spacers to fit right.

Haven't tried it myself so I'm also hoping someone here has firsthand experience to share!

9 inch wide wheel means you'll need to go wider on the tires, 245 or 255 preferably, unless you're into stretched tires, which is stupid if you ask me
