Been hinking a lot about getting a K&N or HKS filter, has anyone installed one and noticed a real difference? Is it worth chasing that extra 3 - 4 horsepower with an aftermarket filter?

I tried a K&N on my last car, the throttle felt a bit snappier, but no night-and-day power boost and honestly, the sound change was more noticeable than the performance gain.
Thanks for being straightforward. Is the sound better in your opinion? Or is it rather just added noise

Also, oil filters can harm the MAF sensor, whereas "dry" performance filters eliminate this risk. What did you end up deciding on?

Honestly, with just a drop in filter like K&N or HKS you won't feel much, maybe a touch better throttle response and a bit more intake sound, but the horsepower gain is pretty negligible. @BabyDiver
