I'm curious if any of you have installed a radar detector in your GR86 and added a remote mute button. I'm planning to set mine up soon and would love to know where you found clean power sources, how you positioned the button, and any other tips you might have. Would be great to hear how you did yours or see some pictures of your setup!

I helped a guy a while back to set up a radar detector and we hooked it to a fuse tap in his interior fuse box. You should find it down in the driver's side footwell area, usually tucked up a bit. Look for a fuse that only gets power when the car is on, like the one for the radio or a spare accessory outlet. Also make sure to test with a multimeter to be sure before tapping in!

For the remote mute button, I've seen some really clean setups where people drill a small hole into one of the blank buttons near the shifter to keep it discreet.

Yup, installed one, I tapped into the mirror harness for power then ran the mute button to a blank near the shifter for easy access, make sure to test everything before sealing it up... trust me on that, let me know if you want wire details

Hardwiring a radar detector and adding a remote mute in a GR86 sounds slick, but let's be real, if you're going that far to dodge tickets, maybe you're not driving spirited…you're just speeding smart.
