Will SX2 tires rub the front?

My bro just snagged some SX2 tires, size 225/45R17. he doesn't have another set of rims yet, so he was gonna slap 'em on his stock base model wheels for now (17x7.5 with a +48 offset)
But he went to the tire shop today to get 'em put on, and the dude there was saying those new 225s would probably rub in the front.
Is this true? Has anyone else run this exact tire setup? If so, do they actually rub?

Probably the guy from the shop just wants to play on the safe side. And no, they shouldn't rub if the car is not lowered and has unusual suspension tweaks. There are a lot of people that i know who use that combo and none of them reported any issues so far.

Your bro should be just fine with 225/45R17 on 17x7.5 +48 wheels, tons of persons run that setup with no rubbing at all, especially if the car is stock height. Maybe if he's slammed or has weird fender liners, sure, but otherwise he's pretty much good

I've used 225/45R17 tires on a 17x7.5 wheel with a +48 offset before. Generally, it works well, but you might notice a bit of rubbing when the steering is fully locked or when hitting big bumps. It really depends on the ride height and alignment of your vehicle. If you're close to rubbing, a minor adjustment to the camber or a little fender rolling could fix the issue

I don't think that the tire shop is wrong in warning him. There's a chance of minor rubbing but it might not be severe.

I've seen stock 86 with 235s, so I'm guessing he should be fine. Not sure about the offset though, so it could rub. Rather than going for probably or maybe, why not get one of those fitment checkers or whatever they're called. YOu set the parameters on the tool and install it and see if it clears. It's cheaper than getting a set of rims that won't fit
