I've never made tire mods on my 2023 GR86 but I feel it's about time! I'm trying to get a handle on wheel and tire fitment and I can really use some help. Forgive my post for the many questions!
If I'm looking at two 17x7.5" wheels, where one is the stock ET48 and the other is ET35, and I'm not using spacers, would the GR86's stock wheel studs be enough, or would I need longer ones? Does the need for longer studs generally depend on the car model itself?
My understanding is that spacers can only push the wheel out. Is that correct? I can use a spacer to make an ET48 wheel effectively an ET35, but I can't easily make an ET35 wheel sit further in?
If I'm upgrading to 17x8" ET35, should I install ARP 2.5" or 3" studs? Would using 3" studs give me more flexibility for adding spacers or future setups. Are there any downsides to the 3" studs besides just how they look or a tougher install?
I'd appreciate insights and advice!
